A very silly and wise illustrator Wendy McNaughton has introduced me to creative visual practices that, though simple, can have a deep resonance. Recently she did a mini lesson on spirals- the ancient symbol that humans have been drawing for millennia.
The artist Lynda Barry has a short 3 minute guided YouTube video that is both an illustrative & meditative endeavor. The only materials you’ll need are paper, pen/pencil, and a quiet space to listen.
If you feel inspired, following the meditation video set a 10 minute timer and allow yourself to draw spirals- large & small, in & outward, clockwise & counterclockwise- and notice the impact of this practice on your mood, breath, body and mind.
